When the going gets tough?

There are times in life when it’s going pretty well. It’s all good, right? But we know it doesn’t stay that way and there will be another shift accompanied with it’s challenge(s). When that happens, don’t freak about but don’t’ ignore it either. This is our opportunity to demonstrate what we have learned in this life and to bring the strength of your practice into everyday life. Sat Nam~Your Truth. And remind yourself that’s it’s not all about you. Your growth will impact more people than you know!

The challenge could be related to health, job, relationships, family, fiances, you name it. It doesn’t really matter, it’s just a vehicle by which we move forward. Within all of us there is a great strength that we can access to keep up with life, not to hide from it. Life is tough for a lot of people right now. Let’s all keep up and ride it out. If things are really good, great. If things are challenging right now, great. And if you are somewhere in between that delicate but very comfortable balance, GREAT! Much love, Sosie ~ Hari Kirin Kaur This week in class we will work on achieving equilibrium: Balancing the energies in our bodies. This kriya will bring equilibrium to the entire glandular system.

What to do in 2010 to get what you need.

Two very important things you need to have to reach your goals. 1. Set your intention. Call out clearly what your goal/desire is. 2. Be consistent and show the greatest of discipline in reaching them. We practice this in every class. Holding your arms up, stretch pose, breath of fire, 56 Frogs. You go for it in class and you show a lot of grit, strength and courage. Bring it into you daily life experience. Every single day.

How good are you…really?

Are we as good, as kind, as compassionate as we can be?

Are we taking the time notice both the challenges and the triumphs that we all encounter.  I believe these are the steps we take to evolve as humans.  Being conscious, aware, understanding and living the best life we can. And as we take these step in human revolution our goodness, our kindness and our compassion grows and widens!  Notice the changes and watch yourself expand.  Pushing yourself to go beyond the physical space you occupy. You may not notice it at first but I promise those around you will.

The Winter Solstice and New Year is a great time of expansion and reflection.  Taking stock and reviewing our life and the past year.  Our behavior towards people, where our goals met?  Going back and looking at our life patterns.  There are some things that we keep doing over and over again, because the repetition is comfortable, even though it may no longer benefit our growth and the graceful flow that we are seek in life.  This is a time to look back at what is no longer serving us and let it go, making room for greater and more satisfying opportunities.  Again, watching ourselves expand.

The science (and it is exactly that, a science) of Kundalini Yoga is one way by which your energy channels are opened and a beautiful clarity begins to come into your consciousness.  And you begin to know what your next steps shall be.  It is such a wonderful tool you can use to unfold a beautiful, conscious transformation.

I am here for you, teaching Yoga in support of your continued journey into 2010.

May all that you need come to you this New Year.

Gratitude

Gratitude.
Most of us try our best to have this a part of our daily practice but Thanksgiving gives us an opportunity to look at things a bit more closely. Here are a few things which I’ll like to share with you, which I am grateful for. Interesting that none of it has been gained through material wealth and the accumulation of possessions. For myself, personal connections that bringing all types of experiences, from challenging to pure ecstasy is what I love most.

This Thursday my family and I will sit with friends that welcome us each year to share their Thanksgiving Day meal. When you are 3,000 miles away from your family, that’s a beautiful invitation.
I am grateful to have such wonderful new friends.

Each year (since I moved out here 4 1/2 years ago) I have a Holiday Party. This year my sweet brother will leave his family and commitments behind and fly 3,000 miles to join the party.
I am grateful that his year I will see my brother in December.

Each class I teach I can see your will, your discipline and your commitment. When you come to class you keep up beautifully. Yoga can be transforming. Bringing about the change in you brings about a change in those you touch. And for me, that what it’s all about.
I am grateful that you show up each week and commit to yourself to be great!

We practice gratitude in our yoga/meditation and those experiences bring grace into our everyday living. It’s what helps us to stay sane, keeps us balanced and allows us to have a healthy perspective in life. Making gratitude a part of your daily practice can allow some lovely subtle shifts to happen…especially as life revs up in December.

You can chase it or…let it come to You!

yogaIt’s time for some Green Energy Prosperity! Begin to acknowledge Flow within your life. Have a gracious openness and acceptance of your own personal truth. Allow yourself to let go of the things that no longer serve you and make room for all those wonderful opportunities that are waiting for you. Please join me tomorrow (Friday) at Village Green Yoga for one of my very favorite Kriya’s. Green Energy Prosperity! We’ll breath powerfully, sweat, chant, and deeply relax. If life has gotten too crazy and you’ve been away from class, now is the time to come back and connect with that flow that exisits in us all! I am not defining prosperity in terms of money. Though that is a component of it. I see prosperity as a shower of all the brilliant and exciting opportunities that come to us. That can certainly be in the form of currency (current~flow…) but it can also be the wealth of your relationships and the richness of your own life journey. Yogi Bhajan would say to us you can chase it, run all out to catch it. Completely exhaust yourself (which we all do!) or….you can be a beautiful, graceful and intuitive being and let it come to you. Prctice that Flow. This is not really a passive attitude. It’s actually quite active, but not exhausting! You still need to work hard but you also need to develope the intuition to see what is right before you and seize it!

Shhhhh..Did you hear that?

You’ve  heard it before and you have all ignored it too.

Your day is moving along splendidly.  You are getting your work done.  Nice and smooth, nice and easy, no confrontation or conflict. You come across a moment where you need to make a decision.  Everything is making sense.  Your mind checks and cross checks to be sure and you move forward with your decision, it makes good sense.  However, for a moment, you hesitate and you begin to hear your inner voice.  Damn, just when your intellect, your mind has got it all sorted out.  You don’t have time for this!  You took all the right steps, your decision is sound.  You stick with it your decision and move on with your day.  Most of the time when this happens, you will regret the decision and wished you had listened to your intuition.  You need to trust your intuition, that inner voice, your gut…whatever you call it.  It is there to serve you. It’s very real and can be a powerful tool in your everyday life.

Yogi Bhajan said “The greatest tool you have in your life is to listen.  Why?  If you listen you will listen sensitively.  And you will be shocked at how fast you will become intuitive.”

I have been practicing Kundalini Yoga for 14 years now but life still will challenge me each and everyday.  I have to remind myself: Listen closely. Pay attention.  Slow down. When I am tuned into my intuition it is pretty wonderful.  No question about it and the bonus of no lingering doubts quite sweet.

In the upcoming weeks I will be focusing our classes with kriyas and meditations to help you tune into your intuition.  The sixth chakra, the pituitary gland.  It’ll be good, I promise.

Listen up!

Many blessing and lots of love,

Yoga or Exercise ~ 2 different things

chakra1Several summers ago I attended a retreat in upper state NY with Gurmuk. Each morning we had 4 AM group Sadhana and more yoga the rest of the day. Yummy vegetarian meals and company with some very bright souls. Those of you that know Gurmuk, well lets just say she has a unique way of challenging you to do things you thought never possible loving yourself for doing it!

One early morning I saw her in running cloths, I pod in hand. (I was still recovering from the early AM yoga set!) I asked her if she was seriously going for a run. She smiled and told me she runs almost daily, getting her cardio in. Gotta do it she said.

My point is this. Your gym or home workout routine is not a replacement for a yoga practice or visa versa. Two very different things but both have there benefits. Unfortunately, many here in the West feel that in order to get people in a yoga class they need to market it as exercise and they have done that very successfully, stripping yoga of its spiritual aspect. Of course Yoga is exercise and of course we sweat and yes we stretch. However, the physical aspect of yoga is only one piece of the practice.

Yoga mean union with One. The physical part of yoga is there to prepare your body for that beautiful, expansive experience. Experiencing that oneness which exists within you. All that bending, stretching, twisting, breathing and meditation is to allow you to merge yourself with the vastness of the universe.

I highly recommend it.

Solar Eclipse

We have recentley experienced a Total Eclipse of the Sun.  It  has been called ‘the most significant of the solar eclipse of the century’ by astronomers. Astrologers believe this solar eclipse lasting over 6 and one half minutes will have influence for the next 6 and a half years.

A solar eclipse is Mother Nature’s most powerful editing tool. When an eclipse occurs, things are

eclipseeclipsed / eliminated. Whatever needs eclipsing comes up in the days and weeks before a solar eclipse. (Think back, you know what those thing are.) An eclipse is an opportunity to eliminate patterns of thought and behavior. This is an ideal time to clear away what stands in the way of your dreams being realized.

The Love Vibe…

head-shotJune could not have been any better weather wise.  Seems I’ve gotten a bit obsessed with the sun over the last 4 years or so…I can’t help it.

July started off brilliantly.  I celebrated my 50th birthday on the 3rd with an intimate groups of friends and family.  It could not have been more perfect.  My husband Robert, whose forte is not exactly throwing dinner parties did an amazing job and I love him that much more for hosting such a lovely party.

I spent the evening with people I adore and love.  Each on of them have touched my life in a positive, loving way.  The next day I begin thinking about the company we keep, the routines we adopt and the words we speak. They all have a vibration attached to it.   And those vibrations can be both good and bad.  I know I’m not getting to woo woo with you, you know what I’m talking about.  You know when the vibe is good.  It’s moving through you and you’re feeling at home, easy, maybe even transformed.   I love it! We have to make the time and consciously surround ourselves with as much of that good energy and vibration that we can.   And if you are able to, dish out some of that good energy too.

For those of us that are tuned in, doing our yoga and meditations…it’s right there within seconds, you know it and can feel all different vibrations, your computer,  nature, people, whatever.  It’s pretty good radar, telling you when to step into that vibe and when to walk away.  We all have it but, when you really develop it, it’s pretty cool.

Friday night was filled with the love vibe.   I highly recommend it!

Summer Solstice
