7 Stepps to Happiness

yogaI’ve talked about happiness before, how to get there and how to sustain it. But this past weekend I truly experienced it and began to understand real happiness.

Yogi Bhajan talks simply about the 7 Steps to Happiness and I’d like to share them. The first step is Commitment. Find something you can commit to completely, without wavering. That commitment leads you to the second step, which is Character. It is your commitment that will build your character. Character guides you to step three, Dignity. I just love that word. The definition is even better: nobility or elevation of character; worthiness. Nice.

Through your dignity, step four opens to your Divinity, leading you to the fifth step, Grace. Living in a state of grace, you are blessed with a conscious mind very close to happiness that allows you to make step six, Sacrifice, a natural process. Always take care of yourself first, but be on the lookout for the good of others and how you can serve, help, sacrifice. When you sacrifice – because it’s naturally what you do – that will bring you Happiness.

I was happy when I got my shiny new car and I was happy when we went to Maui, but only for a couple days. It’s not a forever lasting happiness. Having finished my training in Portland, I was able to experience all the steps to happiness. I missed many occasions and events by traveling down to Portland one weekend a month and I was not happy about it at the time, but I held to the first step and everything fell into place from there.

So start with commitment and see where it will take you!

Much love and many blessings,
Sosie Hari Kirin

Words of Inspiration

We have to develop a consciousness that will guide us through life. Believe, as a matter of reality, that whatever is being given, is given by God and whatever we are giving; God is telling us to give. That is all. When your mental state becomes that clean, clear and crystal, that crystal will promise you the Infinite, beyond the heavens and the earth.

! Technology Update!

! Technology Update !
My Blog…. Today my son Armen shined some new light regarding the technology field and my blog.

Armen thinks we all need to become more interacvtive within our yogic community. So, this is his suggestion. For example, Yogi Bhajan words of inspiration, click on that title, it will take you directly to the blog and tell us what you think. Let’s have a discussion. So, if you look up at this title, Technology Update, click on it and it will take you to this exact post and you can let me know that you think I am crazy.

Armen says, our generation will use his generations language and technology to make life more interesting. OK, I’m willing to give it a try.

Ride that wave babe!

White Tantric YogaI wanted to share what a wonderful weekend I had in both Eugene and Portland. In Eugene I did a White Tantric course and in Portland visited with a dear friend and his beautiful family. It also hit 89 degrees over the weekend! I hadn’t felt that warm in a long time….Tantric, friends and hot sun… as they say, it’s all good.

The White Tantric course I participated in on Saturday was with 80 plus other yogis all dressed in white was the highlight. (It even trumped the weather!) White Tantric is very difficult to explain but if you ever have the opportunity, DO IT! My mind right now is so clear, my energy is infinite and I can hear my soul so clearly. I am so grateful to be able to embrace the highs and the lows in life. This weekend was both. Make no mistake, White Tantric can bring up a whole lot of crap. But I say bring it on! You can either ride that wave or let it ride you. I have done both and I can tell you that I highly recommended riding the wave and ride it with excellence!

Next Saturday I’ll be leading a mini 2 hour Prosperity Workshop. We’ll get a sense of not only riding that energetic wave but allowing it to flow through you. It is that flow that brings you all that you need. See more details about the workshop below.

Much love and many blessings,

Sosie

May we accept all of those we love and those that challenge us; for where there at this moment, with no judgement.

When the Shit hits the fan!

Just when it seems like life is moving along at a fairly even pace, at least for me these days, the Universe will give you a slap in the face.

Someone close confessed their truth to me and it was not at all how they had been presenting of themselves. It shook me to my core. All that I knew of my friend was no longer. Of course it is the truth which we all seek and in the midst of all the “stuff” I was hearing, I was able to see that. By the grace of God and through my yoga practice I was able to stay as neutral and as nonreactive as possible, while at the same time fully engaging in what was happening before me and listening, really listening. It would have been far more pleasant to bury my head in the sand. But my teachers and my yoga practice has trained me otherwise.

This is what it has all come down too. Fourteen years of practicing KY…every kriya, every painful exercise and meditation, every early morning Sadhana, every workshop, teacher training and every grueling White Tantric course (Click here to know more about White Tantirc) preparing for these moments that we all face which require the utmost clarity. I was able to see trough the drama and the story and appreciate the truth my friend was sharing.

Yes, we want to be flexible. Yes, we want a strong core. Yes, we want a good workout and to sweat. Yes to ALL of that! But I am telling you that that is only a small piece of this practice. It’s a bonus that comes with this path, which is to experience Universal connection, God consciousness, You own personal Truth, who you are and what you are to become and pure love and light. Yoga means “union with one.” Making that universal connection, expanding your consciousness, loving yourself. Yes, holding a posture longer than you ever have and breathing into every cell of your being is pure bliss. But these are all just a sequence of exercises that will prepare you for when life gives you that great BIG slap on the face and you can handle it and move through it and grow with it.

A Hopi Elder Speaks

A very Special and Inspirational Reading~
Please pass it on to those you think will be inspired.
A Hopi Elder Speaks

“You have been telling the people that this is the Eleventh Hour. Now you must go back and tell the people this is the hour. And there are things to be considered:
Where are you living? What are you doing?
What are your relationships? Are you in right relationship?
Where is your water?
Know your garden.
It is time to speak your truth.
Create your community. Be good to each other.
And do not look outside yourself for the leader.”

He clasped his hands together and said: “This could be a good time!”

“There is a river flowing now very fast. It is so great and swift that there are those who will be afraid. They will try to hold on to the shore. They will feel that they are being torn apart and will suffer greatly.

“Know the river has its destination. The elders say we must let go of the shore, push off into the middle of the river, keep our eyes open, and our heads above the water. And I say, see who is here with you and celebrate. At this time in history we are to take nothing personally – Least of all ourselves. For the moment we do, our spiritual growth and journey comes to a halt.

“The time of the lone wolf is over. Gather yourselves! Banish the word struggle from your attitude and your vocabulary. All that we do now must be done in a sacred manner and in celebration.

“We are the ones we have been waiting for.”

Joy of a Holiday!

Maui was wonderful. Spending time with my boys was fantastic. They have a grown so much. Our lives get so busy, time is moving so quickly that you forget these kids are growing up! It’s been almost a year since I spent so much time with them – this includes my husband, Robert! These holidays that we take for ourselves and our families are so important. It doesn’t have to be a long holiday or costly. The key, I think, is to recharge yourself. No computers or cell phones, though the kids were still texting…me, just a tiny bit! Laugh out loud and very hard! Connect with each other and be grateful for what is before you.

There were many people in Maui who were complaining, frowning and barely saying hello. Moaning about service, elevators, restaurants, etc. I thought, how can you be upset in paradise? But if you are in a bad space, no matter where you go….you have to deal with your stuff. Whether in Maui, Seattle or Boston. Luckily for us, this time around it was all good. Wahe Guru!

I felt like I was gone forever. I guess that’s a sign of a good holiday. I so missed teaching and am happy to be back and seeing you all again. There will be no class this Easter Sunday. May you embrace this season of rebirth and celebration!

I Challenge You to Happiness!

What are the foundations of happiness? Here are a few things that come to mind.

Understanding who you are. Know your destiny and no longer faking your life. Be content and graceful in your daily life. Be conscious and aware of the life you are leading and how that life is best serving you. For me personally these thoughts are what I seek answers to. By thinking these thoughts through, meditating on them and being honest with yourself is moving us towards true happiness.

I have a challenge for you. Each morning for the next three weeks write down three things that you are grateful for, and during the day remind yourself of those three things. By the end of the three weeks, which will take us to the Spring/Vernal Equinox on March 20th, a period of rebirth, you will start to define yourself and what your happiness is!

We all want to be our best. Shine our brightest. Be joyful, positive, creative and set your intentions!

Laugh Much?

When was the last time you laughed?  I mean a really strong belly laugh, right from the navel center.  A big laugh.  I heard about a study that says that people over the age of 15 have on average about 4 belly laughs a day.  When I heard that I thought that was pretty good!   But, oh no….it’s really not. Children before the age of 2 years old have 400 belly laughs a day!

Watch this video, it’s less than 2 minutes and it defines the belly laugh which, by the way, is a very healthy practice to take up!  Big belly laughs help to boost your immune system.   In Kundalini Yoga, Yogi Bhajan actually gave us exercises that just had you laughing from the belly for 3 minutes.  At first; you start off: Ha ha Ha, fake laughing you know…but then the whole class starts to really crack up.  It’s a great exercise and afterwards, you feel wonderful!

We all have friends that’ll make us laugh that big laugh.  I have a couple. Give them a call when you haven’t shaken that belly in awhile.

Lots of love and light,
Sosie

Liberation!

Sat Nam,

This weekend I attended a workshop on liberation. Freeing ourselves from the daily habits and the parameters which we have placed on ourselves. The definitions we have used to falsely identify ourselves with. We begin to think and ultimately believe the thoughts our mind projects, and all these illusions we have created for ourselves prevent us from seeing our authentic self and getting to where we need to get to!

Guru Singh, from LA, lead the workshop and it was very good. I always come away feeling inspired. He was talking to us about the challenges we face – especially these days – and he said something that has stuck with me: When you are walking through hell, you just keep walking. You don’t pitch a tent and hang out! Don’t stop. Keep moving. Keep up. Yes there are time when I have pitched a tent. Some people will pitch that tents for months, years or even lifetimes. You don’t need to pitch that tent.

We are spiritual beings having a human experience. It’s true. It’s not suppose to be hell.

We were lead through a series of many meditations which I would love to share with you over the upcoming weeks. They were very powerful and they begin to give you the key to start working that lock, picking at it slowly. Peeling away all the fantasy, drama, life’s distractions, illusions we put in place. By opening this lock that we have imposed on ourselves, we slowly become liberated and start doing what it is you are meant to be doing. That’s one aspect of Kundalini Yoga!
