When the going gets tough?

There are times in life when it’s going pretty well. It’s all good, right? But we know it doesn’t stay that way and there will be another shift accompanied with it’s challenge(s). When that happens, don’t freak about but don’t’ ignore it either. This is our opportunity to demonstrate what we have learned in this life and to bring the strength of your practice into everyday life. Sat Nam~Your Truth. And remind yourself that’s it’s not all about you. Your growth will impact more people than you know!
The challenge could be related to health, job, relationships, family, fiances, you name it. It doesn’t really matter, it’s just a vehicle by which we move forward. Within all of us there is a great strength that we can access to keep up with life, not to hide from it. Life is tough for a lot of people right now. Let’s all keep up and ride it out. If things are really good, great. If things are challenging right now, great. And if you are somewhere in between that delicate but very comfortable balance, GREAT! Much love, Sosie ~ Hari Kirin Kaur This week in class we will work on achieving equilibrium: Balancing the energies in our bodies. This kriya will bring equilibrium to the entire glandular system.
What to do in 2010 to get what you need.

Two very important things you need to have to reach your goals. 1. Set your intention. Call out clearly what your goal/desire is. 2. Be consistent and show the greatest of discipline in reaching them. We practice this in every class. Holding your arms up, stretch pose, breath of fire, 56 Frogs. You go for it in class and you show a lot of grit, strength and courage. Bring it into you daily life experience. Every single day.
How good are you…really?

Gratitude.
Most of us try our best to have this a part of our daily practice but Thanksgiving gives us an opportunity to look at things a bit more closely. Here are a few things which I’ll like to share with you, which I am grateful for. Interesting that none of it has been gained through material wealth and the accumulation of possessions. For myself, personal connections that bringing all types of experiences, from challenging to pure ecstasy is what I love most.
This Thursday my family and I will sit with friends that welcome us each year to share their Thanksgiving Day meal. When you are 3,000 miles away from your family, that’s a beautiful invitation.
I am grateful to have such wonderful new friends.
Each year (since I moved out here 4 1/2 years ago) I have a Holiday Party. This year my sweet brother will leave his family and commitments behind and fly 3,000 miles to join the party.
I am grateful that his year I will see my brother in December.
Each class I teach I can see your will, your discipline and your commitment. When you come to class you keep up beautifully. Yoga can be transforming. Bringing about the change in you brings about a change in those you touch. And for me, that what it’s all about.
I am grateful that you show up each week and commit to yourself to be great!
We practice gratitude in our yoga/meditation and those experiences bring grace into our everyday living. It’s what helps us to stay sane, keeps us balanced and allows us to have a healthy perspective in life. Making gratitude a part of your daily practice can allow some lovely subtle shifts to happen…especially as life revs up in December.
You can chase it or…let it come to You!

It’s time for some Green Energy Prosperity! Begin to acknowledge Flow within your life. Have a gracious openness and acceptance of your own personal truth. Allow yourself to let go of the things that no longer serve you and make room for all those wonderful opportunities that are waiting for you. Please join me tomorrow (Friday) at Village Green Yoga for one of my very favorite Kriya’s. Green Energy Prosperity! We’ll breath powerfully, sweat, chant, and deeply relax. If life has gotten too crazy and you’ve been away from class, now is the time to come back and connect with that flow that exisits in us all! I am not defining prosperity in terms of money. Though that is a component of it. I see prosperity as a shower of all the brilliant and exciting opportunities that come to us. That can certainly be in the form of currency (current~flow…) but it can also be the wealth of your relationships and the richness of your own life journey. Yogi Bhajan would say to us you can chase it, run all out to catch it. Completely exhaust yourself (which we all do!) or….you can be a beautiful, graceful and intuitive being and let it come to you. Prctice that Flow. This is not really a passive attitude. It’s actually quite active, but not exhausting! You still need to work hard but you also need to develope the intuition to see what is right before you and seize it!
Shhhhh..Did you hear that?

Yoga or Exercise ~ 2 different things

Several summers ago I attended a retreat in upper state NY with Gurmuk. Each morning we had 4 AM group Sadhana and more yoga the rest of the day. Yummy vegetarian meals and company with some very bright souls. Those of you that know Gurmuk, well lets just say she has a unique way of challenging you to do things you thought never possible loving yourself for doing it!
One early morning I saw her in running cloths, I pod in hand. (I was still recovering from the early AM yoga set!) I asked her if she was seriously going for a run. She smiled and told me she runs almost daily, getting her cardio in. Gotta do it she said.
My point is this. Your gym or home workout routine is not a replacement for a yoga practice or visa versa. Two very different things but both have there benefits. Unfortunately, many here in the West feel that in order to get people in a yoga class they need to market it as exercise and they have done that very successfully, stripping yoga of its spiritual aspect. Of course Yoga is exercise and of course we sweat and yes we stretch. However, the physical aspect of yoga is only one piece of the practice.
Yoga mean union with One. The physical part of yoga is there to prepare your body for that beautiful, expansive experience. Experiencing that oneness which exists within you. All that bending, stretching, twisting, breathing and meditation is to allow you to merge yourself with the vastness of the universe.
I highly recommend it.

eclipsed / eliminated. Whatever needs eclipsing comes up in the days and weeks before a solar eclipse. (Think back, you know what those thing are.) An eclipse is an opportunity to eliminate patterns of thought and behavior. This is an ideal time to clear away what stands in the way of your dreams being realized. The Love Vibe…
